An item is defined in our system as one unit of sellable product. For example, lets say you sell nail polish and end users can purchase individual bottles. In whiplash one bottle of nail polish is an Item
.
These bottles come packaged in cases (of say, 24 items) - and while you'd like to sell them individually, you'd also like to be able sell them as a case. You can create a case designation such that when a case is ordered, you are charged for the pick of a single item.
A Case
is a set number of Items
. For example, if you have 2 cases of 24 items you would enter that as 24 items per case and an item total of 48.
Note: A Case
is limited to a single SKU value.
If, for example your manufacturer sends your cases in a larger box, this could be defined in the Whiplash as a carton. Again, you could sell or create an order for a carton - and this would ship with a pick fee of a single item. This is great for wholesale orders or bulk transfers.
A set of Cases
is called a Carton
. For example, if you have 2 cartons of 72 items you would enter that as 72 items per carton and an item total of 144.
Note: A Carton
is limited to a single SKU value.
