Shipping Rules

Whiplash allows you to map shipping methods from your shopping cart to an official shipping method in our system. This can be done by visiting Account > Preferences > Shipping Methods.

To map a shipping method from your shopping cart to one of our shipping methods, enter your shop's shipping method text in the Shipping Method field under Shopping Cart Method. Then, use the dropdown to select the official shipping method you wish to match your shipping method to.

To set a default shipping method for all of your orders, you can enter Default as the shipping method, and select the official shipping method you want to default to from the dropdown.

A couple exceptions to the shipping method rules:

  • An order is received without a specific shipping method indicated
  • If the package is not eligible for the method indicated

If a shipping method is not indicated or the package is not eligible for the shipping method selected by the customer, without modification, we default to shipping via Whiplash Cheapest Rate.

What is Whiplash Cheapest rate anyway?

Whiplash’s cheapest rate algorithms ensure the most cost friendly shipping rate for your orders - in plain english, the least expensive postage option. * It is important to note * that least expensive option usually means an economy service. These services (especially outside of the US) are generally slower and have limited/no tracking visibility or delivery confirmation.

If you wish to exclude particular methods from being considered in the Whiplash Cheapest rate, you can blacklist them by visiting Account > Preferences > Shipping Methods.

Note: Transit times are estimated on non-guaranteed delivery options. These options are noted with a * Transit times do not account for any possible delays in shipping due to customs processing times on International orders.
